| About the IMGA
Created on February 28, 1990, under authorizing legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly, the IMGA was the first joint action agency created in the State of Illinois. Officially chartered as a nonprofit unit of local government under the Illinois Municipal Code, the IMGA specializes in working with local communities to create custom-designed gas supply and risk management solutions tailored to local needs.
The IMGA is governed by a Board of Directors. Each member community appoints one delegate and one alternate delegate to the Board of Directors.
Under legislation signed April 19, 2006 by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, communities outside of Illinois are now eligible to become full members of the IMGA.
